AI Mode: Your Invitation
Why I’m writing a book about amplified intelligence — and inviting you along for the ride.
Rather than just describe AI Mode, I want to provide an experience of it. At the end of this article, you’ll find a free GPT — 10x in AI Mode — to try it for yourself.
There’s a pressure around AI right now that most people don’t talk about directly.
It shows up in the way conversations stall when someone admits they haven’t tried the latest tool. In the tension when a colleague shares a workflow that feels impossibly efficient. In the quiet worry that you’re somehow falling behind.
I’ve felt it. Most people I talk to have felt it.
And here’s what I’ve come to believe: this pressure isn’t actually about AI at all.
It’s about orientation.
The technology has progressed faster than our mindset and habits have.
Most people are still treating AI as a tool — something you use when you need help with a specific task, then put away.
Like a calculator. Like a search engine.
But that’s a massive underutilization of what AI can be.
Because something critical has changed.
Intelligence — the kind that can synthesize, research, analyze, draft, challenge, and build — is no longer scarce.
It’s available, abundantly, to anyone able to work with it.
The real question is not whether you can access intelligence.
It’s whether you’ve learned to orient all your work around it.
And that shift changes everything: what you attempt, how you think, and what kind of work even feels worth doing.
A Different Kind of AI Book
I’ve finished the first draft of a book called Amplified Intelligence (AI) Mode — or AI Mode for short.
It’s not a prompt collection.
It’s not a technology review, or preview.
It’s not a speculative manifesto about superintelligence or existential risk.
It’s a practical guide to working with amplified intelligence as your persistent thinking and work partner.
The promise of the book is simple:
When intelligence is no longer the constraint, the most important human role becomes direction, judgment, and meaning.
AI Mode is about learning how to operate effectively in that new reality — so you can do work that actually matters, without burning yourself out or chasing every new tool.
The central idea is this:
Most people think and work on their own, and dabble with using AI for certain things.
AI Mode reverses that.
You assume intelligence is present. You design your work around it from the start. You stop working alone by default.
This isn’t about mastering tricks or writing clever prompts.
It’s a shift in posture — from dabbling to directing, from occasional use to integrated partnership.
Why Amplified, Not Artificial
Language shapes perception.
When we call it artificial intelligence, we think of it as synthetic, external, maybe even threatening — something to keep at arm’s length.
When we call it amplified intelligence, something subtle but important shifts. It becomes an extension of your own thinking. Not a replacement, but a magnifier.
This isn’t just semantic. It changes how you engage.
In my view, Amplified intelligence comes alive through three dimensions - the Three A’s of AI Mode:
Augmented Intelligence
Seeing AI as extending your thinking capacity without replacing your judgment. It’s your superpower, and with great power comes great responsibility.Aligned Intelligence
Creating custom AI that is shaped around your purpose, values, context, and methods — not generic defaults designed by the LLM providers.Abundant Intelligence
Deep research, synthesis and perspective are now available on demand, collapsing the distance between question and understanding. Know anything, anytime.
When these three work together, AI no longer feels like an external app. It becomes part of how you think. You realize it is your superpower.
Superman never shows up to a crisis without using his superpowers. And you never work without your amplified intelligence.
A Rebrand — and a Continuation
Many of you have been reading my writing under the We 💙 AI banner.
Those articles and work isn’t disappearing. It’s becoming a little more focused.
We 💙 AI began as a place to explore a different relationship with AI — moving from fear to curiosity, from resistance to possibility. Over time, those ideas sharpened.
What started as enthusiasm for AI evolved into something more grounded: a framework for how to actually work differently when intelligence is abundant.
AI Mode is the name for that framework. And this publication is now its home.
The book will be the full articulation — a complete guide from orientation to practice.
I’ve got the first draft out to early readers, and the ideas will publicly unfold here, in conversation with those who are already experimenting with AI Mode.
Why I’m Writing This in Public
I’m writing this book in public rather than disappearing for a year. That’s intentional.
First, because AI Mode isn’t just a concept to explain — it’s a way of working to practice. I’m writing the book with amplified intelligence, using custom AIs to write and edit everything.
Second, because the ideas get sharper through dialogue. The people reading this are the ones who will actually use this work. Your questions, experiences, and pushback make it better.
And third, because writing in isolation feels wrong when the whole point is that we don’t have to work alone anymore. Plus, I can’t help but share what I’m excited about, and holy cow am I excited about this.
A First Experience of AI Mode
Rather than just describe AI Mode, I wanted to offer a way to experience it.
So I’m sharing the AI which gave me the idea to write this book. Now in the form of a custom GPT called 10x in AI Mode.
This is a guided thinking partner designed to help you surface high-leverage opportunities in your own work — places where AI could fundamentally change the outcome, not just speed things up.
The experience walks you through a structured conversation about what you do, what drains your energy, and where your biggest opportunities might be hiding.
From there, it helps you design an approach and plan to build custom AIs that are aligned with how you actually think and work.
This is what AI Mode feels like in practice.
Not a one-off query.
Not you working alone and occasionally checking in with AI.
But amplified intelligence present from the start, helping you strategize, plan AND execute.
You can try it now. It’s free to use in your ChatGPT account, and works regardless of role, industry, or how much AI you’ve used before (get it here).
An Invitation
Here’s what I know.
The pressure you’re feeling isn’t a sign that you’re behind.
It’s a sign that the old way of working no longer fits the world you’re in.
You’re not lacking capability.
You’re lacking orientation.
And orientation can be learned.
So here’s my invitation:
Try not working alone.
Make a genuine shift in how you approach your work and thinking.
Notice what happens when you assume your amplified intelligence is present and use it from the start. Notice how it changes what you attempt, what you ask, and what you create.
If this resonates, stay close. Subscribe if you haven’t. Share it with someone who wants to do the best work of their life, but feels quietly overwhelmed.
The book is coming. The ideas and tools will be shared here.
And I’d rather do the work with you than alone.
That’s the whole point.
Never work alone again.

Long live AI Mode, the predecessor of collaborative hybrid intelligence (CHI) of symbiotically linked human and wisdom-fostering AI agents!
Research seminar starts on January 26.
Looking forward to the book and the process
